    Changing header on post pages

    Resolved

    I’ve had the receptar theme for over two years now and still get compliments! I am still trying to get the header the way I want it, though. I have the home page pretty well now (https://www.aliteraryfeast.com) However, as you can see when I go to a post,(https://www.aliteraryfeast.com/2018-reading-challenge/) the header really doesn’t work. Is there a way I can change the header colors and widgets on the posts vs. the home page?
    Thank you so much for your time!

    BTW, I changed the visibility of the header widgets so that they would only show on the home page, but as you can see, the search bar still shows up on every post, even though it doesn’t fit well there. I’ve asked about this issue before, and can’t seem to find an answer that works. Thank you!

    Hi graceblake,

    You can change the header colors on posts/pages using custom CSS, like:

    .is-singular .site-header {
      background-color: #f00;
      color: #fff;
    }

    (Or you may want to use .not-front-page .site-header selector in the code above instead of .is-singular .site-header?)

    The search widget in the header is a fallback when the widget area is empty. This is the theme’s default behavior. If you want to hide the search widget on posts/pages, use custom CSS again:

    .not-front-page .site-header-widgets {
      display: none;
    }

    Hi,

    I’ve checked your previous question about site header widgets, and the solution I’ve provided there hides the header widgets area on all pages, even the front page. https://support.webmandesign.eu/forums/topic/header-bar-search-widget-on-mobile/

    Oliver! Thanks so much, man. Once again, you are awesome. BTW, if I decide at some point that I am outgrowing this theme, what do you suggest? I like the wow factor for sure.

    Hi graceblake,

    Receptar is a basic blog theme, actually. So you should be perfectly fine switching to any theme in the future. I actually build all my themes without any lock-in effect, so you can change to whatever theme (even not mine) in the future.

    If you want to switch to one of my themes, you can definitely switch to any of them ;) But if you want to keep the blogging look and feel, currently I offer only Modern theme as a pure blogging alternative. But also Icelander theme has got some cool, multiple blog display styles, for example. You can check my themes at https://www.webmandesign.eu/project-type/themes/
