    Hi,

We’re building a website for a hospital charity and they wanted to use an events calendar to promote their fundraising events. I (and the client) have previous experience with The Events Calendar plugin. We’re currently using the free version but I’ve noticed it isn’t behaving as well as with another theme I have used it with.

Would you be able to recommend an events plugin that does work better with Polyclinic or would you recommend buying the pro version of The Events Calendar that would give greater control?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

I’m sorry, I have no experience using events plugins.

Though, my themes are built with “stay out of way” approach in mind, so they should work with as many plugins as possible out of the box.

Could you maybe provide more info about the issue you experience please?

    Best regards,

    Hi Oliver,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’ll try to be as specific as possible. On an existing site that uses the free version of The Events Calendar plugin, a standard list page looks like this: https://www.thefreshnetwork.co.uk/events/
and the standard event page looks like this:
    https://www.thefreshnetwork.co.uk/event/breakfast-meeting-8th-november-2019/

However, on the website we’re building the pages looks quite different and I’m not sure why as we don’t have a lot of control on how these pages display.
    List view:
    http://scala.redfred.co.uk/events/
    Event View:
    http://scala.redfred.co.uk/event/an-evening-of-gin/

Any advice you could offer as to why the columns and styling isn’t working as expected would be great.

    Thanks, Jon

    Hi Jon,

From what I can see only the custom styles are not applied to the events display. Please note that the first links you’ve sent may use a theme that has specific styles for The Events Calendar plugin.

However, I think the The Events Calendar plugin should apply some styles itself. Please check with the plugin support for help. I have found this information, for example: https://support.theeventscalendar.com/451403-The-Events-Calendar-and-the-WordPress-Customizer

Other than that I don’t see any issue with displaying events with the plugin in Polyclinic theme – there seems to be no functionality issue, just design one.

    Best regards,
